Good Afternoon Killam Families!
We're thrilled to have our students back after the April break! As we gear up for the end of the school year, we're bursting with excitement for what's ahead.
Our teachers have prepared fantastic activities and events to make these last weeks unforgettable. From field day to learning fair, there's plenty of fun in store!
We want to thank you for your incredible support this year. Together, let's make the remainder of the school year extraordinary!

MCAS Updates
- Students who missed a day or two of the ELA MCAS will make up this assessment on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
- Math MCAS will begin May 8th. I will share additional updates as the date approaches!
Learning Fair
The Killam Learning Fair will take place for all K-5 Families from 6-7 PM on May 16th. Please save the date and join us to see your student's work, classroom, and school community come together. More to come!

We are super excited to host our K-5 Field Day on Friday, May 31st, with a rain date of Friday, June 7th!
All K-5 students will participate in stations with their class and we need your help to make this happen! Please sign up for a volunteer slot if you are able to help!

Outreach Announcement β April 30th Reading community parent listening sessions to support middle schoolers
The Reading Children's Cabinet is hosting parent listening sessions to discuss best practices to support our middle schoolers so they are empowered to thrive socially and emotionally! Community Listening Sessions will be held on Tuesday, April 30th from 9:30am - 10:30am and 6pm - 7pm at Reading Public Library, 64 Middlesex Ave, Reading, MA 01867. Please complete this form to RSVP for one of the listening sessions.

Killam School Building Project
- On Thursday April 11 , the KSBC held a community meeting with project architect LBA. The team shared pieces of the educational visioning work done in collaboration with Killam staff and administration. Initial floor plans and designs were also shared with the Reading community. Thank you to the residents who attended and those that toured the building prior to the meeting! About a dozen people took tours. The meeting is posted on YouTube by RCTV here.

- On Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22, GEOTECHNICAL BORING IS HAPPENING AT THE KILLAM. This drilling work will begin at 7AM and could go as late as 5PM on Friday and Monday. It is likely to be noisy. Residents in the area and interested parties have received a call from the town.
- The next outreach meeting will be on May 20, from 4-5PM, at the Pleasant Street Center. We will host a moderated panel conversation with members of the public interested in the project.

The Special Education Parent Advisory Council works for the understanding of, respect for, and support of, all children with special needs in the community (including ALL children on IEPs or 504 plans and children who may require specialized support).
